Opportunity description

Social and digital media is one of the best ways to reach large numbers of people with our key awareness messages, and we're looking for someone creative to help us generate high quality, engaging content to do this.

The role

Social media is one of the best ways to reach large numbers of people with our key awareness messages, and we're looking for someone creative to help us generate high quality, engaging content.

The aim is to establish more of a presence online, in order to reach different groups of young people. We currently use our Facebook, Instagram, twitter, Snapchat, YouTube and our website to raise awareness and to remind people to check themselves regularly, however this is currently done on a relatively small scale and we plan to go much bigger.

At CATS we’re all about fun and witty content to engage people.  We're looking for someone who can generate content in creative ways to get the common signs and symptoms out there, whether it's photo's, video's, animations, infographics, written copy, meme's or more!

If you have professional experience in one (or more) of the above areas we would love to hear from you!

Required skills

  • Film / video production
  • Photography
  • Social media marketing
  • Website creation
  • Graphic design

Person description

We would appreciate someone who:

  • Can create content that is unique and quirky to capture the interest of young people between the ages of 18-24.
  • Has experience (three years minimum) in generating creative content and is familiar with formats for various social media outlets
  • Is reliable, committed and confident working both independently and in collaboration with our CEO and trustees where appropriate.

What impact the opportunity will have

Cancer kills more young people than any other disease, and is the second biggest killer of 18-24 year olds overall (after road-traffic accidents).

Using creative and engaging content is the most important way that we reach young people, and diverse messaging will have a huge impact on raising cancer awareness and expanding CATS' presence. As a very small, relatively new organisation with a limited reach, you will be pivotal in helping CATS evolve and scale up to reach a wider audience with our vital messages. We're consistently looking for new ways to reach and expand our audience and your work will be instrumental in helping us do this.

What’s in it for the volunteer?

This position gives you an opportunity to be involved with the development and growth of an incredibly important cause. There are very few other groups raising awareness of cancer in 18-24year olds, despite it being the second biggest killer within this age range and you will be a key part of the expansion of our organisation and the important work that we do.

If after an initial period you decide you would like to remain with CATS over longer term then we would be very willing to discuss this further, including the possibility of bringing you on as a trustee.

Time commitment

Either in or out of office hours

Flexible. Together we will agree expectations and deadlines so both parties are aligned.
