Opportunity description

We are now looking for a Volunteer Outreach Director to help us acquire partnerships with organisations and major donors for the purpose of furthering Transforming Autism’s projects, events and outreach campaigns and activities.

The role

We are a new and ambitious charity, determined to transform perceptions of autism, and to make it possible for those with the condition to live to their true and impressive potential.  Our initial focus is on early intervention, and part of our work will be to open a specialised early intervention clinic in 2019 or 2020.  For more about us - including a TED talk on our approach given by our CEO a few months ago - please visit our profile by clicking on our name in the title section of this ad or go to our website.

The first major challenge of this role will be to oversee the fundraising team as they work towards their goal of reaching £3m by the end of 2018, which is required if we are to be able to open our specialist clinic in the target timeframe. We are currently receiving (pro-bono) fundraising consultancy from an independent team of specialists to help us get there.

Working closely alongside the Chief Executive Officer as part of the Senior Management Team, it is anticipated that the Volunteer Outreach Director will be able to represent the organisation at a senior level both internally and externally, build relationships with a variety of stakeholders for marketing, fundraising and collaboration purposes and to oversee the successful design and delivery of powerful campaigns, in association with our marketing team.

The Operations Division of the charity encompasses Fundraising, Marketing and External Affairs.

  • Commissioning / contracting

Person description

  • Able to implement a fundraising strategy
  • Lead sustainable income-generating activities and partnerships
  • Oversee the Fundraising, Marketing and External Affairs team divisions
  • Improve general public awareness of Autism and Transforming Autism's services
  • Enable the charity to meet its ambitious goals

As we are a strongly values-driven organisation, we are also seeking someone who deeply resonates with our purpose and our values, which are outlined in our profile.  The full list of our values can be found in the attachment below

What impact the opportunity will have

Opening our new clinic will have a significant and positive impact on children with autism, so we anticipate that many lives will be transformed. However, we can't open the clinic unless we have sufficient funds.

What’s in it for the volunteer?

The chance to have a huge impact on our charity and make our goal possible - to the great benefit of very many children with autism and their families.

A sense of meaningful purpose as we see more and more real revolutionary changes in the lives of millions of people, and as we begin to directly deliver transformation to those families who visit our clinic.

The experience of being part of a contented, enthused, nurtured and dynamic workforce of volunteers and employees, which will have been facilitated by your contribution.
