What impact the opportunity will have

Trustees play a key role in ensuring the charity continues to be financially viable, shaping Survive's services and future development. As such, the role makes a real difference to staff, volunteers and survivors who access our services.

What’s in it for the volunteer?

Acting as a trustee of Survive is a rewarding role that enables you to support and make a real difference to our clients and staff. You will be working together with like-minded people with shared values and a commitment to improve the lives of survivors. The role provides an exciting opportunity to help shape and steer our organisation, including the development of our new (outreach and counselling) services. Trustees can gain new skills, including experience in management, strategic planning, budget/ financial management and fundraising. As a trustee at Survive you will also gain specialist knowledge of rape and sexual abuse.

Trustee meetings typically take once every 2 months with sub-meetings in between. These meetings are usually in the evenings and last approx. 2 hours

Other details

In addition, we ask that trustees give a minimum of 2 additional hours of time monthly to support the charity.

If you are interested in supporting us but aren't able to meet the time commitments for being a trustee please do still get in touch - we also take on advisors who offer their skills on a more ad hoc basis.

You would need to be available to attend monthly trustee meetings at our offices in the centre of York (25 Micklegate).
