UN Women UK promotes gender equality & the empowerment of women. We seek individuals to lead us through a period of ambitious growth so that we can do more to improve the lives of women everywhere.
We are seeking a Trustee Board Member to help lead the organisation through a period of ambitious growth, building our supporter base and expanding awareness and fund-raising activity across the UK so that we can do more to improve the lives of women and girls throughout the world.
The overall purpose of UN Women in the UK (UNW NCUK) is to achieve global gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls by supporting the work and programmes of UN Women. We aspire to a world where women and girls have equality of opportunity, rights and justice. Our mandate is to:
• inform and profile the change agenda with members, supporters, partners, government and parliament.
• raise funds for the work and projects of UN Women with all audiences.
• reinforce the UN Women position on a wide range of issues.
• ensure awareness of projects for ending violence and building economic empowerment.
• reinforce advocacy and lobbying for gender equality wherever we can.
In partnership with UN Women, UNW NCUK aims to achieve this in three ways:
1 Awareness - Increasing commitment to our mandate through various communication vehicles and media
2 Advocacy - Increasing interest of Government, Parliamentarians and Corporate partners to influence change
3 Activation - Increasing financial contribution through engagement, fundraising and outreach activities.
The roles we are seeking to fill now will focus on awareness raising and activation - building our supporter network so that we can increase funds for our programmes of work. Speaking out on behalf of UN Women, influencing others to support the cause are crucial elements of the role profile.

We are seeking dynamic, committed and energetic individuals to join our Board and lead the organisation through a period of ambitious growth, building our supporter base and expanding awareness and fund-raising activity across the UK so that we can do more to improve the lives of women and girls throughout the world.
We are looking for strong leaders who can bring a range of skills and experience to the Board, including:

What impact the opportunity will have
Balancing and strengthening the skill sets of the Board is essential to enable us to achieve our mission of gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls around the world. Every Trustee makes a significant difference to our achievements - a small, relatively new but ambitious charity - the successful applicant will enable the charity to engage a broader audience in taking real action to achieve gender equality in their lifetime and empower women and girls around the world.
What’s in it for the volunteer?
This role provides a real opportunity to make an impact at a strategic level - influencing global policy; at a national level - working with UK government as well as with UK businesses; and a local level - ensuring that our programmes of work make a difference to women and girls on the ground around the world. The role also provides the opportunity to work with a Board that is passionate, committed and courageous in pursuing their goals.
