Opportunity description

Jigsaw makes a difference to people with a learning disability by organising social events. We are seeking new trustees to give fresh ideas into future strategic development, fundraising and to ensure sound decision making.

The role

The Board has overall responsibility for strategic direction, ensuring Jigsaw meets its legal and statutory duties, remains solvent and is well run. Jigsaw is currently undergoing registration with the Charity Commission.

We are looking for people who can:

  • Contribute to establishing the direction of the organisation and monitor performance.

  • Use their specific knowledge or experience to help the board reach sound decisions.

  • Work effectively as a member of a team which includes people with a learning disability as equal partners.

  • Provide invaluable independent guidance and judgment to help us realise our vision.


The Jigsaw board currently consists of 3 members and we are seeking to build this up to 6.

Person description

We are looking for knowledge and experience in the following areas:


  • Marketing & Sales

  • Strategic planning,

  • HR & recruitment


As we are seeking 3 new trustees it is not essential for any one trustee to have all the skills required.

What impact the opportunity will have

Your role at Jigsaw will enable us to move forward into the next stage of our strategic development. Your fresh ideas will ensure that Jigsaw meets its legal and statutory duties, remains solvent and is well run.

Your role will enable us to provide, and further develop a range of trips and social activities (both regular and 'one-off') to ensure that people with learning disabilities can live a full and active life. These activities help people to develop social skills and personal independence which in turn helps the families to which they belong.

Time commitment

Mostly outside office hours

Meetings are held quarterly on a weekday evening. A minimum of 3 years commitment is required.
