Relate Bradford provides counselling and psychosexual therapy to individuals, couples and families in the Bradford District. We have a small board of active Trustees keen to ensure this continues in the current difficult economic environment.
We are currently seeking people to join our Trustee Board. We have a small dedicated team of counsellors and staff providing services in Bradford. We have an annual budget of approximately £350k with most of our income coming from grants and commissioned services.
Like most voluntary sector organisations, maintaining funding streams is a continuing priority so we need people with experience in this area. The Board meets alternate months on a Monday evening in our central Bradford offices.
We currently have a small Board of 6 people with experience in counselling, HR, grants/commissioning as well as the current 3rd sector challenges. We are currently looking for additional Trustees particularly those with marketing, fund raising and business development experience so that we can continue to fund and expand our services. However anyone interested in our organisations objectives who believe they can make a contribution are welcome to apply.
- Business development
- Commissioning / contracting
- Fundraising strategy
- Researching funders / writing proposals
- Marketing strategy
- Public relations
- Business advice / analysis
- Change management
The ideal trustee will have experience of fund raising, marketing and developing new business opportunities and maybe as a trustee in another organisation or group.
An understanding/empathy with the complexities and pressures associated with personal counselling of individuals, couples and families would help the individual to participate in all aspects of the Trustee role at Relate.
What impact the opportunity will have
Like many 3rd sector organisations we are facing pressures through reduced funding but are determined to rise to the challenge to ensure that the people of Bradford continue to benefit from our unique services. Your contribution to this challenge would undoubtably be very rewarding.
What’s in it for the volunteer?
The organisation is going through a period of change both locally and nationally with funding challenges typical for the 3rd sector. Much of our work is commission based as many of our clients are unable to pay the full cost of our services. Alternative funding streams are always being considered and the Board would welcome as much professional input as possible when considering these.
Either in or out of office hours
Board meeting every 2 months in the evening at our central Bradford offices. Occasional additional meetings as required.
