CPRE Nottinghamshire

Objectives

CPRE Nottinghamshire campaigns for a beautiful and living countryside in our county.  We believe the countryside is a precious asset for everyone: town, city or countryside dwellers alike.  We want people to be able to value the English countryside for its beauty, diversity and tranquillity. We want a countryside that is used and valued by everyone, and where people are in tune with the environment and aware of their impact on it.

We help local communities to handle planning issues and have access to a wide range of expertise through our national office.

Activities

We make constructive comments on local planning applications, but we are not a collection of "nimbys".  For example, we strongly support the need to build affordable homes in the right places e.g to keep villages alive in a sympathetic manner.

We run awards schemes, including the Nottinghamshire Best Ket Village Competition; another to recognise successful projects to improve a local environment; and another to recognise excellent examples of building restorations or new builds.

We concern ourselves with a range of environmental issues, including mineral exploration, tranquillity, developing the rural economy and encouraging development of brownfield sites both in town and country.
